IC Competence      

Intercooperation is a leading Swiss non-profit organisation engaged in development and international cooperation.  In Switzerland, we are registered as a foundation governed by 21 organisations representing the development community, civil society and the private sector.  In India Intercooperation is registered as a not for profit company. 

Intercooperation is a resource and knowledge organisation, combining a professional approach with social commitments.

Our areas of competence in India are:

  1. Livestock, livelihoods and environment: Supporting pro-poor livestock sector development that is ecologically sustainable
  2. Adaptation to climate change: Building adaptive capacities of farming communities in semi arid parts of India 
  3. Local governance and civil society: Empowering people's institutions through capacity building, supporting greater devolution for a more accountable public sector.

Our process competencies are in the areas of Participatory technology/ innovation development, Process monitoring, Knowledge management, Gender and social equity and Partnership support functions. 

We are recognized for our skills and experience in full project cycle management, providing advisory services as well as programme design and management support. 

Intercooperation has a highly experienced team in India that combines strong field experience with ability to support programme design and policy development at the meso and macro levels. 

Our teams of professionals have backgrounds in specialized fields of:

  1. Tropical Animal Production
  2. Agricultural economics – sustainable mixed farming systems, adaptation to climate change
  3. Agricultural engineering - soil and water conservation technologies           
  4. Dairy technology – management, turn-around of large dairy plants, establishment of producer owned value added milk products manufacturing unit 
  5. Forest management – Community management models, use of CDM for afforestation projects 
  6. Geology and geographic sciences – natural resource management, application of  GIS and remote sensing technologies for NR planning and monitoring  
  7. Rural management – supporting decentralization, organizational development, M&E systems

We have strong financial management and partner support capacities developed over 25 years of collaboration with state government departments, autonomous agencies and NGOs.  Our financial management systems confirm to the best global standards and we believe in supporting partners to develop systems for greater transparency and accountability.  We collaborate with a team of competent local auditors, who share our values and principles and have a good understanding of development process and the specificities of auditing such institutions.  We also support NGO partners in developing their business plans, human resource management systems and institutional development strategies where much remains to be done. 

Intercooperation has been trusted by donors such as the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (seco) to design, manage and provide implementation support to its development cooperation programmes for over 2.5 decades now.  We remain strongly committed to supporting the development processes in India, combining the best global expertise with intimate local knowledge and a passion for excellence.
