Mr. Manab Chakraborty
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Manab Chakraborty has joined ICSD as the new Chief Executive Officer. Over the last 25 years, Manab had worked in various positions as NGO manager, UN civil servant, consultant, social entrepreneur, and facilitator. Academically he has done his MSc Environmental Economics from University College London, UK; MA Agriculture & Rural Development from Institute of Social Studies, Holland and MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Chicago and Hong Kong Univ. of Science and Technology, Hong Kong.
Prior to joining ICSD, Manab worked as an independent consultant to social enterprises and development finance institutions. He worked for many international organizations such as UNDP, UNEP, World Bank, IFAD, ADB, EU, SIDA, USAID, DFID, GIZ, and PLAN. His expertise is in microfinance, microenterprise development, natural resource management, renewable energy lending, agricultural value chain, institutional development, local staff capacity building and social impact assessment, and finding market-based solutions for the poor. Manab has managed a broad range of projects related to microfinance, social performance management, market research, product design, designing training toolkits, feasibility and project appraisal work, among others.
Climate Change and Environment
Chief Operating Officer
Devanshu Chakravarti has joined us as Chief Operating Officer. He is a development professional with more than 18 years of experience. He did his post graduation in Forest Management (PGDFM) at Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal. He is a Bachelor of Technology (Agricultural Engineering).
He has worked in different capacities with a Government agency, not for profit organizations, a bilateral project and most recently with a developing consulting firm. He has worked in the domains of natural resource management, rural livelihoods, agricultural value chains, climate change adaptation, skill development, community forestry, and decentralization. The functional areas of expertise are project management, project design monitoring and evaluation, research and capacity building. He is hands on with both implementation and consulting assignments. He has experience of working in different parts of India, most recently his engagement being with projects in Northeastern India. He has experience of leading teams comprising mix of senior and junior professionals on assignments as also of leading an office.
Dr. Rajeswar Jonnalagadda
Senior Subject Specialist – Climate Change and Environment
Rajeswar Jonnalagadda, is working as Senior Subject Specialist – Climate Change and Environment. His thrust areas “mainstreaming Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) into public policy” and “establishing linkages between Low-Emission Development and Inclusive Growth”.
Prior to joining Intercooperation, he worked for more than five years as Director (Training & Research) of the Center for Climate Change and Disaster Management at Dr.MCR Human Resource Development Institute, Hyderabad, India – a governmental administrative training institute. He was responsible for designing and developing training & research modules on Mitigation and Adaptation measures against climate change. Earlier, for about twelve years, he worked as an Academic Editor and Consultant for UNESCO’s global project, the Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS), then based in Oxford. During the same period he also worked as a Research Fellow for a UNESCO collaborated Research Institute in Abu Dhabi – UAE, on Systems Approach to Integrated Water and Energy Resource Management. Prior to that, he did his Post-Doctoral research at Center for Ecological Sciences of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He pursued his M.Sc. and M.Phil. in Life Sciences from the University of Hyderabad and Ph.D. in Life Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, India.
Mr. Pankaj Kumar
Team Leader – Climate Change and Environment
Mr. Pankaj Kumar has joined IC as Team Leader – Bihar for the CPGD-CCIP Programmes based in Patna, Bihar. He is a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Law and has done his M.Sc. (Environment Management). Prior to this assignment he was working with IL & FS Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. He comes to us with more than 10 years of experience in imparting technical support for environmental investigative, consultative and remedial projects involving air, water and soil, Waste management, EIA, Environmental Compliance, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001,GHG accounting (ISO 14064), climate change & CDM, Verified Carbon Standard, Gold Standard & Social Carbon Standard.
Head – Rural Economy
He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development Management from IRMA –1995 and a B.Sc in Agriculture science. He is working as Head – Rural Economy and in charge of the office in Hyderabad.
Khan has a total experience of 30 years in handling agribusiness and livelihoods in urban and rural priority sector development. He has an in-depth knowledge in planning project related strategies comprising of schedules, budgets, design management, resource planning in livelihoods support interventions. He has special skills lie in value chain management for sustainable farming system.
The major assignments he has undertaken include promotion of oilseed business through grass root cooperative in Western Odisha, organic value chain for tribal coffee with product placement in international market, enhancement of skills and technology for the Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SME) in cashew and essence (Kewara) industries, organic value chain of cashew, mango, basmati rice and ragi and projects related to water management, water shed management and agro commodity development.
Sanjay Shah is working as Executive Accounts at our Uttarakhand State office. He is assisting the project team in Uttarakhand and UP. He has vast experience in handling office administration and is based in Haldwani, Nainital District.
Ms. Jyotsna Bhatt
Field Coordinator-Rural Economy
Ms. Jyotsna Bhatt has joined us a Field Coordinator-Rural Economy for our WAPRO Project (Water Production for Food Security) in Uttarakhand. She is a B.Tech from Uttarakhand Technical University. She has done assignments in Tapovan Vishnugad Hydro Power Project and National Thermal Power Corporation (Joshimath, Uttarakhand).
Project Coordinator – Rural Economy
Arvind Pandey has joined ICSD as Project Coordinator for our Biogas Project in Uttarakhand. He has done is Post Graduation in Arts with Rural Sociology and Community Development as core areas. Prior to joining ICSD, he had worked with Uttar Pradesh State Spinning Company Limited for about eight years as Field Supervisor.
Mr. Surender Singh Bhakuni
Field Coordinator – Rural Economy
Mr. Surender Singh Bhakuni joined ICSD as Field Coordinator in the project Sustainable Production of Organic and Fair Trade Rice in India Project in April 2012.
He is a Graduate in Political Science with vast experience of working with farmers. He worked in Sawjal Pariyojana, Diversified Agriculture Support Project, Uttarakhand Organic Commodity Board, Sarvodaya Ashram and Shri Suraj Chemicals Pvt. Ltd before joining ICSD
His operational area is Ramnagar and Kotabag blocks in Nainital district of Uttarakhand.
Mr. Jagdeesh Pant
Field Coordinator – Rural Economy
Mr. Jagdeesh Pant joined ICSD as Field Coordinator in the project Sustainable Production of Organic and Fair Trade Rice in India Project in May 2012. He is a graduate with Political Science, Economics & Environmental Sciences. He works closely with the small and marginal farmers for promotion of organic farming. His operational area is Betalghat block in Nainital district & Chaukhutiya block in Almora district in Uttarakhand.
Governance and Social Development
Dhirendra Tiwari, is working as Programme Coordinator – Rural Economy based in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. He is a Social Work Graduate from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai with specialization in Urban and Rural Community Development. Dhirendra comes with over 20 years of experience in various sectors and thematic areas of development.
Dhirendra began his career with Education sector and moved on to managing Community Development initiatives in tribal district of Chhattisgarh. He managed Health and Nutrition project implemented through Government arm Women and Child Development Department through CARE India. He Led the planning process of District through GoI UN Joint Convergence Programme and closely looked at planning processes through Backward Region Grant Fund, LWE affected area’s plan and Decentralised District Plan and innovated planning process with focus on outcomes around Millennium Development Goals. Dhirendra has gained adequate exposure on key thematic areas like Health, Nutrition, WASH, Child Protection and Education. Coordinated a team of professionals deployed in districts and supported the last leg of Integrated District Approach and gained insights into line management and liaison with multiple stakeholders through assignment with UNICEF. He has also led project dealing with complex emergency situation through Health and Nutrition project in Chhattisgarh’s civil strife affected Abujhmar region. Prior to this, Dhirendra was engaged reforming Pedagogy and Teacher training to bring out desired changes in primary education.
Finance and Administration
Sreelatha is working with Intercooperation Social Development (ICSD) India since 2006 and assist the CEO and programme staff in preparation of reports, presentations, documents and other external communication for programmes, workshop and meetings.
She is a commerce graduate with a three year diploma in commercial and computer practice and has more than 15 years of experience in performing secretarial and administrative functions for corporate sector as well as non-profit organisation. Apart from administration, communication and coordination, she looks after the HR functions of the organisation.
Previously, she has worked for corporate companies like GVK Industries Limited, Xerox Limited and Bommidala Group of companies.
Manager – Finance
Madhuri is working with ICSD since 2006 and is based in Hyderabad. She has more than 10 years of experience in accounts and finance departments of development sector. She has done her Post Graduation in Commerce from Andhra University and Masters in Business Administration (Finance) from Sikkim Manipal University.
Madhuri is responsible for maintaining and documenting apart from liaising with bankers for ensuring smooth flow of funds to various levels of organization. She also plays a role in preparing annual budget based on inputs from the different groups and ensures proper and effective financial reporting for the purpose of audits. As the Accounts Officer, Madhuri monitors and analyzes the operational budget and expenditures of all projects/programmes and inform project responsible, file holders and CEO accordingly. She also ensures all compliances under FCRA, Income Tax Act, Companies Act (Sec 25), Service Tax and others as applicable.
